California remote deposition-officer location
California Code of Civil Procedure section 2025.310 permits a deposition officer to attend from a different location than the deponent through remote means, and does not require the deponent to be physically with the officer when sworn. The statute leaves implementation procedures to an order in the particular action or to the California Rules of Court. It also preserves other requirements governing the time, place, and manner of the deposition, so a remote format does not eliminate case-specific coordination.
